Robots that mop and autonomous vacuum offer the convenience of removing dry debris (dust, dirt) and wet mess (spills, stains) in one time without having to swap out devices. They can also save space in comparison to two separate units, particularly in smaller living areas.
A good combination bot will offer excellent navigation and obstacle avoidance. Look for models with docks that let them automatically empty their bins, fill their water tanks and machine-wash the mopping pads.
1. Eufy S1 Pro
It's one of the easiest robots to set up that we've tested. Unpacking the S1 Pro is simple, and an easy-to-follow guide will have you up and running with a clean, full dust bag, hard floor solution and water tank in no time.
The S1 Pro is an incredibly powerful machine that can mop and vacuum well. The mops spin at fast speeds and can apply 2.2 pounds (1kg) of force, which makes short work of dirt, pet hair and dried sticky spills. The vacuum has four power modes, a selection of attachments and brushes, and a user-friendly app that lets you pick the kind of cleaning you'd like to have for each room.
For instance, you can decide to let the robot hoover and mop do a deep clean in the kitchen and living rooms but be careful with the spare bedroom. The S1 Pro's front colision sensors and its smart navigation technology are excellent too, with the robot vacuum cleaners best being capable of detecting small obstacles that other models struggle with. Its only drawback is that it tends to crash into walls and objects at full speed - but just a glance at the history of cleaning in the app will tell you exactly what it's doing, where it's going and what obstacles it's run into or avoided.
A convenient LCD screen on the docking station informs you when maintenance jobs are required like emptying the debris tray and rinsing its dirty water tank. It is also able to mix detergent into the tank by itself by using a 600ml eufy solution.
Both the S1 Pro vacuum and mop have plenty of run-time as well, with the mop being capable of running for 184 minutes in Quiet mode, while the vacuum is able to do 136 minutes in normal mode, before having to recharge or return to the base to replenish. You can also view the entire cleaning information in the app, which is clearly laid out and is easy to comprehend however we would have liked to be able to distinguish between a mop only vacuum and mop clean, when looking at a cleaned area in the history of cleaning.
2. Roborock S8 Pro Ultra
The Roborock S8 Pro Ultra, the most recent version of Roborock's most popular robot vacuum and mop, is the most up-to-date version. Unlike last year's model this one has a double agitator in its mopping pad which significantly improves its carpet cleaning capabilities. The S8 Pro Ultra has an improved suction capacity that enables it to pick up smaller hairs and other particles other robotic cleaners might miss.
The Roborock model, just like the other two I tried it has infrared and a reactive 3D obstacle avoidance technology that helps it avoid obstacles such as walls, furniture and other obstacles. The S8 Pro Ultra goes one step further and incorporates a dual-camera that can identify objects, determining if they're walls or other surfaces. It can then automatically change its direction and clean the objects without a pause.
It's the most expensive of the three models I've examined, however, it's also the most feature-packed. Its sleek angular design is striking and comes with three buttons that are physically accessible. The power button, which resumes the cleaning mop function, a button for cleaning that doubles as a child lock, and a home-button to send the robot vacuum cleaner reviews to its dock. Lifting the hinged lid, you will find 350ml of dust bin and 200ml water tank. The water tank automatically emptys and the bin auto-refills.
The only downside I found in this model was the VibraRise mop pads mount is not removable. It is possible to replace the mopping cloth if required, but it's not easy to remove the mount for manual washing. I've observed that any carpet that the robot crosses will be in contact with the rough Velcro like fastener on mount, which can cause scratches.
The S8 Pro Ultra has a variety of smart features which include support for Google Home, Amazon Alexa and Siri. You can manage and set up these through the Roborock app that is also the home of its maps and advanced mopping settings. The app allows you to schedule cleanings, track the life of batteries and maintenance on components. You'll need to jump through a few steps to enable voice control on this model. This is a shame considering how efficient it is otherwise.
3. Dreame X40
The Dreame X40 is an industry-leading robot vacuum and mop with outstanding suction power, advanced mowing capabilities, and ingenuity features. Its innovative design allows for customised and efficient cleaning while reducing time.
The X40 robot vacuum cleaner is the first to offer 12,000 Pascals cleaning power. It is among the most powerful options available. This powerful vacuum can clear up pet hair as well as crumbs and other dry messes. It comes with a mop of high quality that cleans hard floors without using a pad. The X40 is also extremely quiet when in operation and only occasionally bursting during mode changes or self-maintenance.
The X40 also comes with a side brush that is able to be extended and lifted. This allows it to reach into corners that are hard to reach and clean furniture with curved edges such as table and chair legs. It also allows the robot to reach under low-profile furniture which makes it a great option for apartments or condos with tight spaces. The side brush tilts automatically down when it spots wet spots. This is a great feature that enables the X40 to avoid causing damage to floors through repeated back-and-forth movements.
In contrast to other robots that are limited to a single task, the X40 can vacuum and mop simultaneously. It can also be programmed to eliminate areas with carpet and mop only hard floors, or vice versa. It can be controlled by the Dreame App or Alexa, Siri, or Google Home to ensure smooth voice-controlled operation.
The app is intuitive and easy to use and the X40's intelligent features are a breeze to set up. Users can program the X40 to clean at specific times. It is also possible to alter suction power, change modes, look at maps and floor plans, and control mopping settings. The X40 can also monitor its progress and notify you when it's finished.
The X40 is easy to maintain and comes with numerous convenient features, making it an ideal option for busy families. The docking station automatically empty the dustbin into a huge 3.2 L bin, washes the mop pads, then refills them with clean water and cleaning solution. It can also tell when the mop pad is overflowing and alert you before it overflows, thus reducing the necessity for manual maintenance.
4. L20 Ultra
The L20 Ultra robot is one of the most expensive models available. It does have several features that make it stand out. Its mops have a new feature called Smart DuoScrub. It makes use of two mops with high-speed motors to clean floors more thoroughly than the standard method, and has a high maximum suction power of 7,000Pa. This is more than the Roborock S8 Pro Ultra or Ecovacs Deebot T20 Omni, and it can vacuum up pet hair and other small dirt particles - and also pick up spills and wet spots.
The mop is also cleaned and dried inside the base station after each use. This feature is great because it prevents mould and unpleasant odours from accumulating in storage. It also makes the mop system more efficient. This is a system has yet to be seen on other robot vacuums and mop models, and it could be a great way of keeping your home hygienic for longer.
There are plenty of choices, including the possibility to schedule cleanings and adjust preferences. The app allows you to define these preferences, or you can utilize the buttons on the device itself. The app is easy to use and has a lot of options for customising the cleaning routine. Additionally, there are many features that other robots do not include, for instance, the Clean Genius mode that automatically increases suction power whenever it detects dust particles instead of using a manual setting.
The L20 Ultra is also one of the most fashionable robots we've seen on market, sporting metallic and white colors that looks elegant and classy. It's a bit heavier at 4kg than the other robots on this list however it's not too heavy. It feels solid and well-built. The mopping system is also well designed and the double-rotating mop is a great choice for hard floors or in corners. The MopExtend feature allows them to reach up to 2mm below baseboards.
