Optimus Nova
The Optimus Nova multi-fuel stove can be used for a variety of liquid fuels. It has a quick priming burner, a self-purging aluminium pump, and a precise simmer control. Its low center of gravity and wide legs make it a stable, rock-solid stove. This makes it an ideal stove for group backpacking base camps, kayaking and camping in the Arctic.
Contrary to many other liquid fuel stoves which have a problem in which unburned fuel remains in the fuel line and 349338 the nozzle of the stove the Optimus Nova has a shut off mechanism that operates by simply flipping the container over. The intake hoses are removed from the fuel, and forces them to absorb air, which stifles flames and depressurizes the bottle.
This is an ingenious solution to an age-old problem and it definitely works. The Nova can be used with a range of regular fuel bottles that seal with an o-ring. This includes MSR bottles. It comes with a stove bag that includes pockets for tools, spares along with lubricant and fuel pump.
This is an excellent all-round stove for backpacking use in the UK, particularly for expeditions where a wide choice of fuels is required. The price is very reasonable compared to other canister stoves that have similar capabilities. The Optimus Nova is also easy to maintain and a joy to use.
Kovea Hydra
Since 2010 since 2010, Www.349338.Xyz the Kovea Multi Fuel Stove has been a cult favorite among backpackers. The Hydra isn't as popular among UK backpackers any more possibly because they've caught up to better-known brands or the newest lightweight offerings from China or Korea. But that doesn't make it any less useful.
It's a compact and light stove, burning all liquid fuels, including white gas and propane butane through only one nozzle. It's a typical stove design with the burner bell that is bolted to a body that anchors three support legs that fold out. The pump is on the top of the fuel hose and the generator loop runs around the inlet and the flame spreader is up above that. The burner itself is a low velocity flame which allows it to be less affected by wind.
A nice feature is that it can be used with a container of propane or isobutane making it a versatile small cooker. It is easy to simmer with propane or isobutane and burns all types of fuel with a decent amount of heat, but is a little slower than some other stoves when using white gas.
One important thing to remember when using the Hydra is that the instructions are written in English which was not written by a native speaker of the language. The instructions warn against using certain kinds of lighter fluid. If you make a mistake they could result in an accident and put Kovea into legal trouble. But that, any 7/16ths UNEF threaded gas canister made by a reputable manufacturer will work fine.
Primus OmniLite Ti
The Primus Omnilite Ti is a excellent choice to those looking for an all-fuel stove that can cook with a variety of fuels. It can run on gasoline, petrol/gasoline, diesel, kerosene and aviation fuel. It has separate controls for each fuel type and also allows to alter the size of the flame, which is a nice feature. The stove also has an fuel line that is flat on the ground and can be easily connected to the tank.
The Primus Omnilite is an excellent stove, but it requires maintenance to keep it operating efficiently. It is a risk because it explodes when priming. This is a common problem with all stoves with liquid fuel which use a second spindle throttle on the stove's side to evaporate fuel instead of a generator coil.
It is also important to note that each fuel type requires an individual jet. This means that if you cook on kerosene the jet hole has to be smaller than when cooking with gas. It's a minor inconvenience but it's important to mention.
MSR Whisper Light
The MSR Whisper Lite is one of the lightest, slimmest and cheapest multi fuel stoves. It is also simple to repair on the field. It can be used with either liquid gas or canister fuel and comes with attachments for each. The new model is 10percent lighter than its predecessor, and the burner system has been redesigned to ensure better heat distribution. It's ideal for novices or backpackers with a budget.
The whistler Lite requires a bit of time to prepare, prime and boil water, but it is a reliable stove that won't disappoint you. The flame is extremely powerful and can cook a Liter of water in two minutes. The only drawback is it's not as good for simmering as some other stoves.
MSR created the Dragonfly to be a more capable burner. It's similar to the whistler, Www.349338.Xyz but it's more compact and offers more performance. It's not as cheap as the Whistler Lite. The Soto Amicus stove and cookset is a fantastic alternative that gives you the same set-up for half the price. You can also purchase a Whisperlite International or Universal for isobutane canisters as well. The same design is used for both, but the Universal version can be used with canister fuel in addition.
Coleman Sportster II
This is a simple, no-frills Coleman stove that can do the job. It's compact, self-contained and solid, with the tank at the bottom and the burner on the top. This makes it simple to use and a good choice for those who are new to backpacking, looking to reduce weight and those of us who keep a few spares in the van.
Designed to burn Coleman's own exclusive fuel (naptha gas, also known as white gas) This stove can be used with non-leaded gasoline as well. A gallon of gasoline will last as longer as a standard Coleman liquid fuel cylinder, so you'll save money on fuel by using this alternative.
Liquid fuel stoves have a learning curve as you'll need to properly pressurize and prepare them to get a nice blue flame going. If you do it wrong the fuel may be sprayed onto the burner, 349338 or sputter. To get the hang of this, practice outside before your trip.
The stove will lose some performance and flame odor efficiency if you choose to use non-Coleman fuels, but this is a tradeoff in its versatility. Be sure to buy gasoline that isn't leaded and not that is enriched with methanol or ethanol (alcohol). These types of fuel can cause the unit's performance to degrade and even explode.

They can also be referred to under other names like isobutane, white gas, kerosene and unleaded gasoline/car fuel.
